Supplier Standards
|
As a supplier, Centrad Healthcare, Inc. ("Centrad") will meet the following Medicare Supplier Standards:
- Centrad must operate its business and furnish Medicare-covered items in compliance with all State and Federal licensure and regulatory requirements.
- Centrad has not made, or caused to be made, any false statement or misrepresentation of a material fact on its application for billing privileges.
- Centrad must have the application for billing privileges signed by an individual whose signature binds a supplier.
- Centrad fills orders, fabricates or fits items from its own inventory or by contracting with other companies for the purchase of items necessary to fill orders.
- Centrad advises beneficiaries that they may either rent or purchase inexpensive or routinely purchased durable medical equipment, and of the purchase option for capped rental durable medical equipment.
- Centrad honors all warranties, expressed or implied, under applicable State law.
- Centrad maintains a physical facility on an appropriate site.
- Centrad permits CMS (formerly HCFA), or its agents to conduct on-site inspections to ascertain supplier compliance with supplier standards.
- Centrad maintains and furnishes a primary business telephone listed under the name of the business, either local or toll-free, for beneficiaries.
- Centrad must have appropriate liability insurance.
- Centrad agrees to contact a beneficiary by telephone only when one or more of the following applies; has been given written consent concerning the furnishing of a Medicare-covered item to be rented or purchased, to coordinate delivery of a Medicare-covered item, or concerning additional Medicare-covered items other than those previously supplied within 15 month period.
- Centrad is responsible to oversee delivery of Medicare-covered items to beneficiaries and maintain proof of delivery.
- Centrad will answer questions and respond to complaints a beneficiary has about a Medicare-covered item that is sold or rented to the beneficiary. If the beneficiary has questions about Medicare, Centrad will refer the beneficiary to the appropriate carrier.
- Centrad maintains and replaces at no charge, or repairs directly or through service contracts with another company, Medicare-covered items it rents to a beneficiary.
- Centrad accepts returns from beneficiaries of substandard (less than full quality for a particular item or unsuitable items, inappropriate for the beneficiary at the time it was fitted and rented or sold).
- Centrad discloses these supplier standards to each beneficiary to whom it supplies a Medicare-covered item.
- Centrad Healthcare must comply with the disclosure provision as stated in the Federal Register, Section 424.57.
- Centrad must not convey or reassign a supplier number.
- Centrad must have a complaint resolution protocol to address beneficiary complaints that relate to supplier standards and keep written complaints and appropriate correspondence of actions taken in response to written or oral complaints.
- Centrad must maintain the appropriate information required on all written and oral beneficiary complaints it receives.
- Centrad provides to HCFA, upon request, any information required by the Medicare stature and implementing regulations.
